Tips for Cheap Flights on Spirit Airlines

Due to the recent events we have seen a steady decline in travel which has caused a decline in ticket prices. I received an email from Penny Pincher flights saying that there were flights from Austin, Texas to Lima, Peru for $289 roundtrip in April. I couldn’t believe it! Peru is on my vision board so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to book this flight.

I looked on Google Flights to discover that the airline offering the flights was Spirit Airlines. I had heard a rumor that if you go to the airport and purchase your ticket at the counter instead of online, you save some money. I wanted to put it to the test.

It took me three tries going to the airport, but I was finally able to purchase my ticket from Texas to Peru for $235 round trip!

After speaking with the agent at the counter for about 20mins I was able to acquire some tips to help you snag some cheap flights during this travel crisis!

Here are the tips:

1)    Check the ticket counter times at your airport before driving there.

2)    The best time to purchase a flight is within 1.5months

3)    International flights have different fees attached to them so they will cost more.

4)    Flights to Vegas are always cheap if you buy them at the counter. ($30-$50rt)

5)    Flights to Puerto Rico are under $100 if bought at the airport.

6)    There is no special discount for Spirit Airlines on Tuesdays (it’s a rumor)
